What an historic day! What an historic year! Cheered on by a strong band of Tigers supporters last Saturday, our women's Division 3 side capped a wonderful Vawdon Cup campaign by winning what is quite possibly the club's first-ever women's open representative crown. Opinion is somewhat divided on that, but if we've won one before no one can remember it! :) To do so with a grand final team containing no fewer than five players who had never played rep touch prior to this season is truly an amazing team effort and one the club is extremely proud of. That said, the inexperienced ladies were very fortunate to have some terrific senior players to show them the ropes, such as our inspirational captain Jo Joe, and fellow supermums Rebecca Szewcow and Amy Mitchell. That trio in particular were outstanding on Saturday and would have done their chances of selection in the 2018 NSW State of Origin women's over 40 squad no harm at all. Sharlene Wong, who was away for the GF unfortunately, is another Tiger likely to come into strong contention for Blues selection. Congratulations also to long-time Balmain competition player Greg Robinson, who collected his first Vawdon Cup winner's medal with the Eastern Suburbs men's division two team. We reckon you look better in black and orange than red, white and blue, Greg, but great work all the same, mate. ;) Last but not least, a huge thanks to all our valued sponsors, especially our major sponsor Balmain Sports Medicine.
